Photography. To me that does not only mean taking a photograph of something pretty. Photography is capturing a moment or scene in a way that truly tells a story or guides the viewers to imagine their own story. Taking a picture is fun and rewarding but the true reward is being able to keep it and savor the moment.

Both Keith Haring and Pierre Cardin are influential artists. Keith Haring’s way of drawing is simple but yet creates a story with contour lines. I myself am a better contour drawer rather than a realistic drawer. It is easier for me to relate to and comprehend his art. I feel that I am also greatly influenced by the French fashion designer, Cardin Pierre. His artwork is slightly avant garde while also having the essence of  simplicity. His clothing line is casual and elegant at the same time. He innovated the Bubble Dress style. I am always attracted to bubble dresses and after viewing his other clothing lines, I feel that I too can relate to his style and taste in clothing and art.

Being an artist is not just about drawing and painting. It is the way one dresses, imagines,  acts, presents oneself, and creates. Within this past year, I have explored more of my artistic side and have learned to embrace it. I always felt like I was just walking in my older sister’s footsteps by drawing but I have learned how to create what I wanted and how to create it. I think that is the best part of expanding your skills and becoming a true artist; learning how to express yourself honestly. Photography class has influenced me to become more open minded and view things differently. When taking a picture, before I just used take a bunch and pick the best one but now I think about the composition and space to create my own style. Photography is not just about taking a picture, it is all about the developing part and how the viewers perceive the photograph.
